Hello!

Kumata-Shrine Summer festival is held from 11th to 14th July in Hirano Ward every year.

This festival has a history dating back more than 1000 years, and each “DANJIRI” of nine territories go around the town during the period. The locals definitely love the summer festival.

It is one of the most famous danjiri festival in Osaka approximately 300,000 people visit during the period.

A lot of people gather there especially when nine danjir gather ,on the 12th “Ku-cho Joint Trawing” (around 20: 00 ~ 22: 00 nearest station is Osaka Metro Tanimachi Line Hirano Station), and there is a great crowd.

The climax of the four-day festival is definitely “Danjiri goes into the shrine”, Which is on the 13th! (around 19: 00 ~ 23: 00 the nearest station is JR Line Hirano Station T32)

The shape of the nine Danjiris dedicated to Kumata shrine are very brave and make us greatly excited at the festival!

You can join the “Miyairi (entering a shrine with Dnjiri)”  by wearing “HAPPI” (traditional costume for festival) of each town.                  The price of HAPPI is different depending on a town, but it is around 10,000 yen.

Why do not foreign tourists participate in traditional Japanese events?

“HAPPI”purchase date is specified, but if you have a purchase route, you can participate in the festival and you can also have “HAPPI”make a souvenir!

During this festival period, ordinary Japanese people will usually show different figures in order to enjoy festivals.

Of course, a lot of stalls line up at the Pure Shrine Shrine premises, and it fulfills the festive feeling.

How about trying to make your summer festival of Pure Shrine Shrine a page of your Japanese trip that you can participate by train movement from Umeda station for about 40 minutes?
